PHOM Activities in Pest Risk Analysis (PRA)

In order to prevent the entry and spread of pests harmful to Brazilian agriculture, the importation of plants and their by-products is only permitted if there is a Normative Instruction (IN) establishing phytosanitary requirements for their entry into Brazil. If the IN does not exist, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) does not have legal support to issue the Phytosanitary Certificate (CF) required for the product’s internalization. The interested importer will then need to request a PRA to be conducted, submitting to MAPA the request accompanied by a PRA report prepared by PHOM.
